THE BALANCED MAN SCHOLARSHIP
The Ancient Greeks summed it up in one word: aręte – excellence in every part of life: morally, intellectually, socially, and physically – that together contributed to the development of the Balanced Man. This emphasis on the individual, and the desire for personal perfection of mind and body made the Greeks original, exciting, and truly extraordinary.
The founding brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon recognized the need to pursue the ideals of virtue and balance in the company of one another. The quest for excellence is often full of obstacles, therefore making the journey much more of a success when traveled with friends who can encourage and support you.
SigEp would like to recognize the most exceptionally balanced men on campus, and will reward a $1,000 cash scholarship to the most balanced freshman.
Our next BMS will take place during the Fall 2009 semester. Details will be posted as they become available.
